FlowRMM Integration

FlowRMM is the technical control plane: endpoints, Remote Console, and approved actions. FlowPSA is the business record: tickets, communication, time, agreements, and invoices. FlowPSA is FlowRMM's native PSA provider, flow_psa.

The examples below follow Acme MSP, whose FlowRMM tenant manages acme-wks-01 for client Acme Corp at Acme HQ.

One database

In the preferred setup, FlowPSA uses the Postgres that FlowRMM already runs. FlowRMM tables stay in public; FlowPSA uses its own flowpsa schema and reads FlowRMM clients, sites, and devices through views. Client, site, and device IDs are the same rows, so a ticket can point at acme-wks-01 without a mapping table. A split deployment over HTTPS is supported for compatibility.

Escalations become tickets

When FlowRMM escalates an alert, it sends an envelope with a stable eventId and correlationKey.

  • Replaying the same event returns the original ticket.
  • Later events for the same escalation append to the same ticket's timeline.
  • A new ticket is never created for a correlation key that already has one, even after the ticket closed.

The ticket links the company, site, and endpoint by their FlowRMM IDs. FlowPSA owns the ticket number, status, and history.

Evidence on the timeline

FlowRMM can append structured evidence to the ticket: the action or session ID, the device, the exit code, the duration, a short output snippet, and a link back to the action in FlowRMM. Operators can also attach a session link after a Remote Console session. Evidence stays attributed to whoever provided it.

FlowPSA does not embed remote control and does not simulate sessions or verification. If FlowRMM did not record it, FlowPSA does not claim it.

Resolution goes back

A status message from FlowRMM cannot resolve a ticket; resolution passes the resolution gate. When a ticket with a correlation key resolves, FlowPSA queues a resolution event for FlowRMM. Delivery retries with backoff, never double-sends, and stays off until the callback is configured.

Optional, never hostage

FlowRMM works without FlowPSA. If PSA is off, or escalations still go to another PSA, Remote Console and actions are unaffected. Switching the default PSA for escalations is an admin choice in FlowRMM.
